Will it slow down my website?

The front-end widget is served from your own site. Chat traffic can use Normal, Fast or Ultra mode; Fast and Ultra reduce the WordPress bootstrap work, while Normal favours compatibility. The Status screen includes a benchmark so you can measure the modes on your own server. Discord, WhatsApp and AI contact external services only when you enable and use those integrations.

How is it licensed? Are there hidden costs?

The current pricing cards show the site allowance, support term and payment option for each licence. The plugin does not add per-agent or per-conversation charges. Optional services can have their own costs: OpenAI or Anthropic bill your API key, Meta may charge for WhatsApp conversations or templates, and the Discord reply bridge needs somewhere to run its small Node.js bot.

What happens when a visitor messages and I’m not online?

You’re covered three ways: visitors can leave their email so you can follow up (and your reply is emailed straight back to them), an optional AI can auto-answer from your canned responses, a named robot can suggest pages from your own site search, and because you can reply from Discord or WhatsApp, you can keep chatting from your phone wherever you are.

Do I need to be a developer to set it up?

No. Install, activate, and a chat bubble appears on your site. The database tables and speed-boosting mu-plugin install themselves. Colours, icons, sounds and position are edited on the Display tab beside a live preview of the real widget; behaviour has a simple settings page. No code, no API keys for the core chat.

Will it work with my theme, page builder and caching plugin?

The widget uses standard WordPress hooks, and its chat endpoints send no-store headers and are designed to sit outside the page cache. That makes it page-cache friendly, but it is not a universal compatibility guarantee. Test the bubble, mobile keyboard and one real conversation with your theme, builder, cache and CDN before launch.

Where is my chat data stored? Is it GDPR-friendly?

The core conversation record lives in custom tables in your WordPress database. Data also goes to any optional channel you enable: Discord, Meta’s WhatsApp Cloud API, your email delivery service, or OpenAI/Anthropic for AI classification. The plugin gives you control over those choices; it does not make a site GDPR-compliant by itself.

Can my whole team use it?

Yes. Conversations appear in a shared wp-admin inbox where you can assign them to specific admins, filter by assignee, and search by visitor. Each agent can use their own display name or a single shared one like “Support”.

How does the Discord integration work, and is it hard to set up?

Each new conversation opens a thread in your Discord channel automatically. To reply from Discord, you run a small companion bot (one command on any Node.js server) that relays your messages back to the visitor in real time. Visitor-to-Discord works the moment you paste in your bot token and channel ID.

Does the chat work on mobile?

Yes. The bubble is fully responsive and adapts to the on-screen keyboard, so visitors get a clean experience on phones and tablets.

How do you stop spam and bots?

The chat includes a hidden honeypot field that silently rejects bots and built-in per-IP rate limiting on sending and session creation, so automated abuse is throttled out of the box. You can also prompt visitors to log in after a few messages, so regulars keep their chat history on their account.

Does the AI auto-reply cost anything?

It is optional and uses your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, billed at that provider’s current rates. A daily cap limits usage. The model classifies a visitor’s question against canned responses and sends the best match; it is not an unrestricted support agent, and you can leave it switched off.

How does the WhatsApp integration work?

It uses Meta’s official Cloud API, so you need a Meta app, WhatsApp Business setup and Cloud API credentials. Visitors can start on WhatsApp, website messages can be forwarded to your phone, and quote-replies route back to the right visitor. Meta’s 24-hour reply window still applies, so later replies need an approved re-engagement template and Meta charges may apply. The plugin checks the connection and logs webhook and send errors.

Can the chat show when we’re closed?

Yes. Opening Hours gives you a weekly schedule in your site timezone (overnight ranges supported) plus an instant snooze button. While away, the bubble can show a snooze badge with your return time in the visitor’s own timezone, ask for their email up front, or hide entirely, and Discord or WhatsApp forwards can pause so your phone stays quiet overnight.

What if I get stuck?

There’s a full knowledge base covering setup, configuration, performance, and the Discord and AI features, and support is included with your license, so you have a direct line to the developer. The Quick Start Guide has you chatting in under five minutes.

Can I control the chat from Claude or another AI assistant?

Yes. Super Speedy Chat publishes its operational settings and a health check over MCP, so an AI agent can read and change the configuration, see how many conversations are waiting, and check whether the Discord and WhatsApp relays are working. It also appears on AI Engine’s MCP endpoint when that plugin is active. API tokens are write-only: an agent is told whether a key is set, never what it is. Appearance, sounds, the opening-hours grid and the ajax transport stay on the settings screen.

Can I try it on my live site before visitors see it?

Yes. Turn on Test Mode and the bubble appears only for visitors whose URL includes ?ssc-test=1, remembered for the rest of that browser session. Everyone else sees the site exactly as it was, and because the check happens in the browser your page-cached HTML stays identical for every visitor.
